This sample language covers the basics of what personal data your store collects, stores and shares, and who can access that data. Depending on which settings are enabled and which other extensions are used, the specific information shared by your store varies. We recommend consulting an attorney when deciding what information should be covered and described in your privacy policy.

We collect information about you during the checkout process in our store.

What we collect and store

While you visit our website, we will track:
  • Products you've viewed: we use this to, for example, show you products you've recently viewed.
  • Location information, IP address and browser type: we use this for purposes such as VAT calculation and shipping costs
  • Delivery address: we ask you to enter this so that we can, for example, calculate shipping before you order, and send you the order!
We also use cookies to keep track of the contents of the shopping cart while you use our website.

Note: you may need to describe your cookie policy in more detail, and link to that section here.

When you purchase from us, we ask you to provide us with information that includes your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, credit card/payment information, and optional account information such as username and password. We use this information for purposes such as:
  • Send you information about your account and your order
  • Answer your questions, including returns and complaints
  • Process payments and prevent fraud
  • Set up your account for our store
  • Comply with legal requirements we have, such as VAT calculation
  • Improve our store offers
  • Send you marketing communications, if you choose to receive them
If you create an account, we will store your name, address, email address and phone number, which will be used to fill in your details at checkout for future orders. In general, we only store information about you for as long as we need the information for the purposes for which we collect and use it, and as long as we are not legally required to store it. For example, we will store order information for the applicable time period for tax and accounting purposes. This includes your name, email address, and billing and shipping addresses. We also store comments or reviews, if you leave them.

Who in our team has access

Members of our team have access to the information you give us. For example, both admins and store owners have access to:
  • Order information such as what was bought, when it was bought and where it should be sent, as well
  • Customer information such as your name, email address and billing and delivery information.
Our team has access to this information to fulfill orders, process refunds and provide support.

What we share with others

In this section, you should list who you share data with and for what purpose. This may include, but not be limited to, analytics, marketing, payment solutions, shipping companies, and third-party embeddings.

We share information with third parties that help us fulfill orders and store services for you, such as --

Payments

In this subsection, you should list which third-party payment processors you use to accept payments in your store, as they likely handle customer data. We've included PayPal as an example, but you should remove this if you don't use PayPal.

We accept payments through PayPal. When we process payments, some of your information will be sent to PayPal, including information required to process or support the payment, such as the purchase total and billing information. See PayPal Privacy Policy for more details.

Compliant | The Privacy Suite for WordPress

Klarna Checkout for WooCommerce

When you place an order in the store with Klarna Checkout as the selected payment method, information about your order (name, price, quantity, SKU) is sent to Klarna. When the purchase is completed, Klarna sends the delivery and invoice address back to the store. This data, as well as a unique ID for the purchase, is then saved as delivery and invoice data in the order in WooCommerce.
